Why Shouldn’t I Write a Memoir?
I’m not going to bury the lede:
“Normal” people 100 percent can write a memoir.
If you want to write a memoir, then you can write a memoir.
I meet with writers a couple of times a month for free 30-minute coaching calls where they get to come to me and bring whatever it is that is on their creative hearts. These allow me to talk to you one-on-one, face-to-face and hear your story, allow you to name what you want and what you’re trying to do.
The most magical thing about these calls is that I get to listen. I invite you to share and get to receive the desires you have on your heart. And then? I get to tell you that Yes, you should write a memoir.
But, Charlotte, you’re asking, How can you tell me that I should write a memoir without hearing what my story is?
Simple: If you have the desire to write, then you are meant to write your story.
Writing your memoir won’t happen if you don’t first believe that your story deserves to take up space in the world. You can’t wait to have a finished draft to feel the conviction you’re looking for. You get to choose to feel that now, to write with that conviction right now.So I want you to ask yourself, Why NOT me? What about you and your story is stopping you? Unacceptable options include: I’m not a good writer, No one would read it anyway, I don’t know how to write a memoir. All of the blocks that have to with the actual writing can be dealt with with the right support, and the mindset blocks are something that you can recode if you want to.
So. You tell me: Why shouldn’t you write a memoir?
I have tools to help you walk through this process of validation and mindset recoding. You’ll want to check out my free masterclass, Should I Write a Memoir. This is the best and easiest place to get started!
