November reading recap

2020 has done a number on my reading life. October and November have seen significant dips in the number of books I’ve finished, and you know what? That’s okay. In November I finished nine books. Four of them were audio, five were in print, and two were rereads.

  • Goodnight, Beautiful by Aimee Malloy (audio, ALC)

  • What Is a Girl Worth? by Rachael Denhollander (audio)

  • A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness (reread, audio)

  • The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab

  • The Survivors by Jane Harper (audio, ALC)

  • The Most Precious of Cargoes by Jean-Claude Grumberg

  • Silver Sparrow by Tayari Jones

  • The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street by Karina Yan Glaser (read-aloud)

  • Ramona the Brave by Beverly Cleary (read-aloud)

I DNFed one book that I really thought would be a slam dunk, but if 2020 has taught me anything, it’s to call it on books (or routines or habits or relationships) that just aren’t working for me. While my number of books read in November is a marked drop from previous months, the ones I did finish I rated pretty high. Quality over quantity, bookworms!

My favorite book I finished was probably Silver Sparrow. I read that with the Modern Mrs. Darcy book club, and the chat with Tarayi Jones was gold. What was your favorite book of November?
